Sample Mid Week Email

Hi girls,

I’m still missing a few progress reports from last week; if yours isn’t in please get it to me as soon as you can.

Today I want to talk to you about those really tough weeks when you find working out harder than normal for whatever reason.

This morning while I was out enjoying the gorgeous weather on my run I noticed that I was doing today’s run hard; in fact this whole week running has been hard going and a bit of a chore when normally I love it. My back is a bit dicey this week, I had laser hair removal on my legs last week and now have really itchy burning skin so when I sweat it burns and I’m also tired this week as I‘ve had lots on and have been in the car much more than usual and I’m not in my usual headspace this week feeling more stressed than I normally would. All in all a recipe for a tough week.

I have two more runs this week, one really long one and I have my fingers crossed I’ll enjoy them much more than the last two!

Have you had a week like that? Or a month like that?

The reason I raise this is because whilst I was running I got to thinking how when I first started my running program I knew it would get tough at some stage because I would begin to push further than I ever had before (I had almost forgotten this expectation as it has been going so well).

This picked me up because I was able to say to myself  “This is one of those tough weeks, time to dig in and get it done”.

It might be useful for you to acknowledge that throughout your program there will be weeks when it is just hard going, there will be weeks when your body hurts and you are tired, there will be weeks when you don’t get results and feel like throwing the whole thing in.

As difficult as they are often the tough weeks are the ones that count because once you get through it you lift to a whole other level, you raise the bar on what you thought you were capable of.

Having a tough week gives you the opportunity to exceed your own expectations and feel fantastic about that achievement.

When you have a stinker of a week and you come out the other side it is also really important to acknowledge yourself and feel proud of your achievements because in the end it doesn’t matter whether you enjoy your training that week or not, it comes down to the fact it was tough going and you did it anyway and that deserves a pat on the back (and quite possibly a massage!!).

If you haven’t had a really hard week yet you probably will at some point and remember that when you do embrace it, push on through and come out the other side better for it.

Have a wonderful few days; as usual your comments, questions etc are always welcome.

If I don’t hear from you before hand I will be in touch again on Friday with your progress reports.

Cheers,,

Michelle :)
